Icon Update 18: HP, Alias, Buffy, Gerard. [15 May 2005|01:18am]

Indy was fabulous and helped me figure out what that fancy font everyone was using is called/located at, so I felt the need to make some icons. And since I've been dormant for a while, I be postin' them. I'll try to make some more in the coming weeks.

Icon Update 11: Nicole Kidman, Mulan, Lost [06 Nov 2004|03:03pm]

I was making a collage so I could give someone a photoshop tutuorial from it and then I decided, hey, let's just chop this up and make icons of it. So, Nicole Kidman. Yay. Comment and credit, etcetc.

ETA: I found some Mulan icons that I hadn't posted yet floating around in my computer, and then I found some pretty pictures of Sawyer, so I made icons of those too, so. Yah. More than just Nicole Kidman.

Icon Update 10: A project of sorts. [03 Nov 2004|11:32pm]

Let me start by saying that I'm not bitter about the election. When the primaries had first started, I was already saying that Bush was going to win. What I'm concerned about is the fact that even though everyone thought that the 18-24 year old block was going to be this election's "secret weapon," only 17% of the vote was attributed to young voters - the same as in 2000. There was a pretty big voter turnout this year, so that 17% probably isn't the same number of people as in 2000, but it's still only 17%. Democrat, Republican,Independent, Libertarian, Populist, Independence, Working Families, whatever you are, there needs to be more young people voting.

This morning, one of my friends was saying that instead of being upset, she was going to focus on being more politically active. She wants to pick a few issues that she's passionate about and join some groups to get her voice heard. Another one of my friends said the same thing later in the evening. The important thing is, we can't all just wake up in four years and get frustrated because things aren't going the way we want them to; we have to put some effort into shifting the tides on our own. My friends and I don't know what we're going to do yet, but we know we want to do something.

Now. Last night when I was watching the projections come up on the national maps, I was somewhat shocked. I hadn't expected the maps to be so red. After everything I'd been hearing about how the race was going to be dead-even, I thought things would look a little more purple. Now that the knowledge that yes, Bush will be our president for the next four years has settled in somewhat, I'm doing what geology_rocks said she'd do: put my frustration into little 100x100 pixel squares.

To clarify: I do not actually want everyone in the country to suddenly go Democratic. Let's face it, that would be incredibly boring. Even though I'm not overly pleased with the results of last night, I was literally squealing out of excitement as I watched the states light up. What "Paint it blue" means is that I want to try to make as much of that map blue as possible; I want to get politically active somehow, so that when November of 2008 rolls around, I can say that I've done my part. I would have done "Paint it red," except it's practically all red already and because I'm not Republican ( ;) ). If you want to take the icon, go ahead, but if you do, you have to promise to get politically active. This doesn't mean you have to go join a group or anything. If you haven't voted before, promise to vote the next time around. If you did vote, pick something that you can do. Try to get people to vote, help a candidate campaign in an election (local, state, or national). Just do something.

All day long I've been hearing about how we could have done more. So let's do more. Get active.

Icon Update 09: Gyllenhaal, Radcliffe, Sawyer, McGregor. [23 Oct 2004|01:33pm]

Jake, Ewan, Dan, Sawyer. I am spending too much time experimenting with icon styles, but I was told to make grungy icons on pain of death, so there ya go. Dunno if I really like them, I'm more for the clean-cut style. Comment and credit if you're taking any.

I have a thing for the show Lost, so when I saw that numerocinco had caps posted, naturally, I grabbed 'em and started making icons. I'm trying out this "dark" thing, so bear with me.

Icon Update 04: Nocturne Alley [30 Sep 2004|06:39pm]

The question and answer session that's been going on in nraged for the nocturne alley players had me feeling a little nostalgic, but then I started skimming through my favorite posts and then I really started to miss N_A. I remembered that I'd made a few icons out of N_A character's icons back in the day, so I decided to fix them up a little bit. I'd made them when I was just starting out, so I thought it might be interesting to see how I'd changed.

I wanted to make icons of all the characters, but then I realized that that would mean making 49 icons, and I don't really have the time to make that many, so I just redid the Lisa, Pansy, and Lupin ones that I had before, and added Draco, Harry, Lucius, Millicent, Narcissa, Ron, Seamus, and Snape to the bunch. However, if anyone wants me to make another character, just ask.

Comment and credit if you're taking any. Thanky. :)

Icon Update 03: PSA 01 - Definitely [27 Sep 2004|03:09pm]

The first in a series of public service announcements:

2 a : free of all ambiguity, uncertainty, or obscurity b : unquestionable, decided
3: typically designating an identified or immediately identifiable person or thing
4 a : being constant in number, usually less than 20, and occurring in multiples of the petal number b : cymose

There is no "a."
